Why Wedding Photography?

Your wedding pictures will capture forever - beautiful as a butterfly in amber - the most important first day in your life as a couple - the birth of your future together.

Wedding photography is a rewarding and exciting adventure for the professional artist whose job expertise is crucial to creating the best photographs for your special wedding album - one which in the years ahead will warmly and vividly bring back your wonderful memories.

This album will bring you greatest joy in the future. It requires formal as well as candid pictures of the bride and groom and of your families on this momentous day. The photography needs to be executed in a smooth, professional manner so as not to disproportionately interrupt the day's flow. You will want many additional photographs to recapture your particular wedding day, and the energies that permeated it. These are unexpected images that are the photographer's great joy and challenge. They require me to keep my senses open to the day's unfolding so that I am ready when the unexpected happens. This aspect, as well as your more traditional poses, is most rewarding for the photographer as well as for you, his client. You will discover them to be amongst your most precious memory moments.

Informal photography increases the challenge of capturing your wedding. It must be done unobtrusively. As I like being with people, I have never found that a problem. I am there when the bride looks for me, but otherwise am rarely in her thoughts. I find this the best formula for capturing the casual moments on your wedding celebration - the flow of emotions and the formal images that are needed to create a truly enduring album of memories.

While sometimes stressful, a little careful planning can make your wedding preparation a pleasant and memorable experience.

About Wedding Photography

Wedding photography has a history almost as old as the history of photography itself. Both began in the early to mid-1800's and have continued ever since. The various photographic techniques were initially developed in Europe, but spread quickly to the United States - which led, before long, to other interesting techniques and subjects: San Jose wedding photography history and San Francisco wedding photography history.

Wedding photography began by imitating portrait painting, using formal, stiff poses, often referred to as traditional wedding photography. This was partially due to the the cumbersome photographic equipment that was available at the time. More recently, as more compact photographic formats, such as 35mm film and digital have become available, we have seen interesting new photographic techniques being in weddings. These include both the magazine inspired wedding photojournalism style and the more imaginative, and to us entertaining, photo-illustrative style. We offer wedding photography that combines all three of these styles because we believe this produces the most memorable record of your wedding. It is quite common now to find photographers offering engagement sessions to couples prior to the wedding to create a session of informal, relaxed photographs which can be used on invitations or at the reception. Needless to say, it is something of a challenge to choose the right wedding photographer for you. These resources are some great groups we have worked with on weddings that you may find useful in your wedding planning.
